1. Can you tell us a bit about your background and what sparked your interest in computer science and data science?

 Ans:  My background is rooted in a strong foundation of statistics and computer science. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Ilorin with a First Class and later pursued a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Quantitative Methods from Austin Peay State University, where I achieved a perfect GPA. My interest in computer science and data science was sparked by the realization of how powerful data-driven decision-making can be. This realization came during my undergraduate studies and was further solidified by my research and professional experiences.

2. What was your academic journey like, and how did it prepare you for your professional career?

 Ans:  My academic journey was both challenging and rewarding. During my time at Austin Peay State University, I was deeply involved in research, which allowed me to explore advanced topics in machine learning and data analysis. I also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, which honed my ability to explain complex concepts and fostered a deeper understanding of the subjects I taught. This rigorous academic training provided me with a solid technical foundation and critical thinking skills that have been invaluable in my professional career at Amazon and beyond.

3. Can you tell us about your current role at Amazon and the kind of projects you work on?

 Ans:  Certainly! At Amazon in Nashville, TN, I work as a Software Development Engineer. My primary focus is on developing and deploying machine learning models for predictive analytics to address various business challenges. I also create software applications using both relational and NoSQL databases. Additionally, I utilize CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Azure DevOps to streamline the software deployment process. A significant part of my role involves designing well-defined RESTful APIs and managing databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, and MySQL.

4. What was your experience like during your internship at Amazon, and how did it prepare you for your current role?

Ans:   My internship at Amazon was incredibly valuable. I worked in an agile environment where I developed an appointment booking interface for shipment scheduling. This project included deploying machine learning models to predict appointment dates. I gained hands-on experience with unit and integration testing and documented the low-level design of the services I created. This internship allowed me to refine my skills in software development and machine learning, which directly prepared me for my current responsibilities.

 Ans:  One of the most challenging projects I worked on was developing a machine learning model for predictive analytics at Amazon. The complexity lay in handling large datasets and ensuring the accuracy of predictions. To overcome these obstacles, I utilized advanced data cleaning techniques and leveraged powerful libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit Learn. I also collaborated closely with my team, engaging in thorough testing and validation processes to ensure the model’s reliability and performance.

Ans:  My interest in software development and data science was sparked during my undergraduate studies in Statistics at the University of Ilorin. Ans:   Staying current in such a rapidly evolving field requires continuous learning. I regularly read research papers and follow industry blogs.
